Gameplay[]
A cinematic plays at the start of the level, with a rather archetypal red robot trying to wake the player, who is presumably the titular Subject 729749. As the Subject wakes to find himself in a facility, the Redbot makes the initiative to befriend him and gives some exposition dialogues (which you can skip prematurely by speeding forwards); In the aftermath of a major malfunction at the facility, Redbot was tasked by 'The Doctors', currently in a cryogenic state, to find a healthy clone for data testing. The player, as they stand, remains the only one of many clones who isn't in a vegetative state.
Now that the player has come to, he ought to 'defrost' The Doctors from a control panel and get them out of their cryogenic state. Upon defrosting, Redbot will assume a leg-up position and subsequently hoist the player into the derelict testing facility proper via the vents. Rooms 1 and 2 will present puzzles in the manner of odd one out, exhausting wrong answers to which is of no consequences given you eventually click the correct one which will open the exit (if it isn't completely derelict already). This is a hint of rather minor obstacles which shows up periodically in the level. As you complete the brainteaser in Room 2 and move into Room 3 perched precariously on a ledge, it predictably plummets to sua lower floor, overgrown with vegetation and other derelict puzzle rooms which the player navigates and towards an elevator, which will let the Subject access to an upper floor of the facility.
Once at said floor, in front of the player there is a locked door with a key card scanner. Crawling out of the rather dilapidated elevator, the Subject will be informed they'll be needing a yellow card to advance, which can be found in the laboratory behind them, underneath a navy blue poster of a scientist clutching a test tube (the card will also be highlighted by a hovering arrow if the player fails to spot it). After obtaining the keycard, it is through the hole in a certain Dr. Sutferk's office and into Quiz Room 81, which upon completion of the puzzle will promptly see Redbot crashing through the ceiling in the corridor outside, creating a passage in the ventilation leading to the floor beneath.
Meeting on the lower floor besides a collapsed elevator, Redbot signals for the both of you to meet 'at the other side of the tube', leaving you to navigate the collapsed elevator, a fallen tree bridge, and a hollowed out tree to the bottom floor. It is at this point you are halted by a monowheeled robot, demanding that you partake in his drug trial. Pillbot then promptly leads the player into a room where they'll promptly be stuck until the Subject takes the pill from the pedestal.
Upon taking the pill the player finds themself in a fever dream of sorts. Namely, inside the braindead Subject's 3269's brain. Traversing the scene of an office fire with other clones darting about in a panic, in a flash you are then transported to an unfamiliar looking facility, housing a 'Time experiment' and several cogs darting about the room perilously. As you approach the cogs, an arrow will prompt you to go back and click on the previously innocuous-looking junction box, revealing rather ominous looking Pause and Resume buttons. Clicking them will, predictably, pause or resume the movement of the cogs, allowing the player to pass through them unharmed. A wizard will suddenly appear to greet you with the line 'TIME IS INEVITABLE!` before you get again teleported in a flash, this time onto the knuckles of a giant elvish alien.
Jumping off his knuckles into the arena below, the elvish alien goes into a rage and a game screen shows for a minigame of sorts, having the Subject dodge various asteroids and planetoids with relative ease. In a coup de grace, a giant meteorite comes creeping in from outer orbit. Just as it would seem that the Subject would be crushed, they come back to and find a wrecked Pillbot in a heap and the doors of the drug-testing room unlocked. Redbot greets the player after their hallucinogenic episode and directs them to the elevator which will lead them to the Doctors. After a Spongebob-esque 'Five hours, Twelve minute and Six seconds' time card, the Player finally meet the Doctors, a moustachioed man and a woman in nurse gowns, face to face. Of course, Redbot hints the player can leave, but for story reasons the exit will be blocked by an invisible wall.
Quite blatantly, they state their intention to dissect the Subject's brain so as to get 'the information in his brain' to 'repopulate the world'. Redbot who has bonded with the Subject over the course of the level, predictably objects to this course of action and lands a right hook on the male Doctor's face. Redbot and the Subject presumably escapes the facility and into the outside world, drawing the level to a close with a signature Kreftus mascot.
